Rockin'. | |
| I don't know any Goths. I've never been a part of the Goth lifestyle. I don't understand what's so cool about the Goth look (when I was a kid, always dressing in black meant that you didn't know anything about fashion). I certainly never heard of The Sisters of Mercy when this album came out. So why did I buy it? Simple: I love real, hard rock, and I'm a sucker for bands that don't follow convention. Seven-plus minute songs? Bring them on! (Got me through some really dull stretches at work, for one.) Bitterness? A great countermeasure to the banal love and joy of too many pop hacks. Oh hell, let's get political while we're at it (Dominion/Mother Russia). Maybe I'm completely missing the point. Maybe goth isn't supposed to be this edgy, energetic, oh, well, *fun*. But who cares. This album rocks. | |
In the western sky, My kingdom come-Black Planet | |
| Where is Black Planet? Shame for not including it. Best tracks in terms of sheer bombastic quality of Doktor Avalanche, and Andrews great vocals-Temple of Love, More, Dominion/Mother Russia and This Corrosion. They're also some of the best work from The Sisters, but don't discount the earlier stuff either. I was surprised any songs were included from First and Last and Always, since Andrew himself doesn't rate that as his best work. I on the other hand really like that album. But....I think Black Planet far surpasses the No Time to Cry and Walk Away tracks included here. Black Planet is an awesome song, and should've been on this disk. | |
Who said this is good? | |
| I read some glowing reviews of this CD so I thought I would give it a chance....big mistake. This has to be one of the worst CDs I've ever bought, it's uninspired and features poor production values. Just terrible, I can't believe this is a greatest hits collection, I would hate to hear the CDs these songs were taken from. If you're hungry for some new music the new Beastie Boys CD is Great, Bonds "Classified" is really good and Mr.Deviant's "Techno Obsession" is just killer, it's a mix of power rock and hard dance music. | |
